Mitali Grounds

The extensive grounds of Mitali, and organic cultivation

The extensive grounds of Mitali extend over an acre, and provide additional facilities in addition to a sense of space and repose. At the front of the house is a large lawn which is a delight during the cooler months, for reading and adda, tea and occasional evening events such as Baul singing. There is the DesignAsia craft outlet which is housed in the “Bhab” mud-straw structure behind the lawn. A mushroom-cultivation unit, organic compost through waste-recycling and a vermi-compost unit, all have their own structures. There are fruit orchards and vegetable-cultivation areas, all fed through drip irrigation, as well as a greenhouse for the cultivation of exotic vegetables in off-season periods. Outside meal-times, the roof area is a favourite spot for reading and discussions
